Flame throwing

Good morning! Another spring day and I am just starting to sniffle. The full blown allergies will kick in as soon as the cherry blossoms bloom in the northeast.

How is the sad big lefty doing? Hmmmm.....

It seems that yesterday was a turning point for him as he came to terms with his injury and the magnitude behind it. If his coaches had been more supportive, the process would not have taken so long. But the Czar has refused to speak to him because he feels betrayed. Sheesh.

That's right....he has been pitching on one leg compromising the integrity and safety of his arms and hips in order to betray the man who has made his life miserable for the last two years. What a devilish idea.

The people who have been supportive have offered their condolences as they think that this is the end of baseball for him.

Guess what folks.....

This is just the beginning. he's keeping his plans to himself....

OK, he will not take the traditional route and be drafted out of college since he does not have enough innings under his belt thanks to his injury. However, he will be off to Jersey to realign his body then spend a month in Oregon as he learns to throw flaming balls. Then he will play in an independent league for a season and hope to be discovered.

if not....well.....

We had the discussion yesterday and he feels that if it does not happen, he will be fine because he knows that he gave it all. Yet, he does not feel that it is over. Since he was a younger player, batters could not hit his pitches (when he was healthy). He has a gift that he has been cultivating since he was a kid. He is not going to give up until he feels that it is time.

With that said, I had the time to suggest that he has multiple talents and he will be fine. In fact, he will be amazing as he discovers his other gifts such as creativity, humor, the ability to write, and his intuitive nature (when he wants to use it). I also feel that he would be valuable in the business world as he has such talents plus his baseball background.

Yes, my friends, he will be fine. Yet, I cannot help thinking that his playing days are just beginning. I cannot share this thought with him because I do not want to offer false hope. But I watched his pitching over the years and he is right...

when he is healthy, no one can hit him. Plus as he escapes from the clutches of the Czar and Pyscho, he has the chance to use scientific principles and flexibility to return to his flame throwing 90+mph days.

Ok, off to get the work done.

Peace!

Be accountable

Greetings. It's a nice spring day in the northeast with a light breeze and the daffodils are peeking through the soil. I like this time of the year and hate it. The reason that I hate it is my allergies are triggered and for the next few weeks, I'll be sneezing, sniffling, and tearing.....

Actually, I feel like tearing right now and I am not out in the backyard....you see.......

Yesterday, I drove the kid halfway to college. His friends Tonto and Sky High met us halfway and drove him and all of the goodies that I packed back to campus. As I took the turnpike home, I exhaled for the first time in a few weeks....in and out....in and out....

As I walked into the house, I hear the phone and dad speaking loudly. Yikes...really...already, really?

Then I got the call....quick Tink, pour some pinot into a large sippy cup for this one....

It seems that the trainer has gone through the locker room to tell the team that the big kid threw in the towel and refused to rehab his injury. In other words, he is soft and unreliable. This is the trainer who has worked with him over the years and gained his confidence and trust. Now he is throwing him under the bus telling people that he over reacted to the injury and should not have had surgery. In other words, he is letting his team mates and university down.

Believe me, I saw the tear on the MRI. I also saw him trying to walk and the beating that his body was taking as he tried to compensate for the injury. Plus, the docs are still seething that he went for another opinion who actually correctly diagnosed the injury.

This is a bunch of doo-doo....sorry about the potty mouth. But, if he was capable, no one or nothing would stop him from throwing. He has been on the mound despite injuries, lyme disease, shoulder injuries, stomach flu, and fevers. If he could throw, he would throw, Got it?

Now, they seek to humiliate him further by telling  his team mates that he abandoned them. The coaches have still not checked on him. And he is out there...basically alone to face the team after his surgery.

Dang, when does life get easier? When do people who claim to be adults grow up? Why can't I go in there and kick some BP mom butt?

I dunno. That's my answer. However, if it gets to the point where I have to intervene again, given his blessing, I will. Otherwise, he is on his own to take on the critics and work out the issues that poor communication and leadership created.

He has four games left to attend since he is not going to travel. As we spoke this morning, he was getting anxious and felt that something big was going to happen, so he headed to speak to the sports psychologist about his anxiety. And then it happened.....thrown under the bus by the good doc....

He told the big guy that the coaches were angry with him and feel that he let everyone down. They also concurred that he did not go through correct channels and made a decision without their consultation. The kid hit the roof and I had the privilege of listening to this rant.....

"They don't care. they never cared. They let me get injured. They do not talk to me. They berate me. Yell at me. Ignore me. Humiliate me. Injure me. And I go in to see the coaches and the pitching coach did not even look at me in the eye or speak to me when I told him that I needed surgery. And they are angry!"

Sigh.....I am not going to rant, but this is a crazy and toxic situation. I am tired of hearing about it. I want to help him but I want to go postal on the whole group of them.

Listen, I am not a mother who thinks that her baby is the best athlete. he's not.

He's not the best pitcher, but he's pretty dang good as concurred by the analysts on ESPN.

He works hard and leaves his body and soul on the field.

What does he get? You know the drill.....humiliated, made fun of, ignored, called a psycho, and put on the bench to breathe. If we had to do it again, would we?

Well, knowing what we know now....no.

On the other hand, looking back, the road has not been easy, but he has proven to be resilient. I admire what he has done and give him a great deal of credit.

All I want now is for the next two weeks to fly by. I would love to stay away from senior day because the coach would have to say things that he does not mean. In other words, he would have to be nice and complimentary. Knowing this, I would seethe inside.

Also on senior day, the team honors the seniors and they are given a gift from the university. The parents are there with the mothers given flowers. The coaches then walk up to the parents and players and shake their hands and pose for a photo. Honestly, thinking about this ceremony is making me sick to my stomach. I hope that I can fake it just to get him out of there with his dignity (or what is left of it) intact.

My heart breaks for the kid, but I have to be strong, listen to him vent, and caution him not to say a negative word. He has to get out of the situation soon or he will say something that he will regret or I will say something that he will regret. Any way you look at it, he loses...or does he?

Let's consider this....he has been humiliated, yelled at, and ostracized. What else can happen?

I encourage him to keep his head down and mouth shut. Nothing good will come from any verbal altercation. However, when he is safe.....that's right safe.....when the Czar cannot hurt him anymore and he is set in the minors, I will take my verbal shot and hit my target.

Do I want anything bad to happen to anymore? Nope. I want people to be accountable for their words, actions, and negative impact on these kids.

Ok, gotta run.

peace!

I don't like you.....and now you know it.

Good morning...back in the surgi center at 8am and feeling a bit fatigued. Between driving to the city and mountains, I have filled my gas tank up five times this week.

Before I start....Happy Birthday to BP Grandmom! She's the best...ever....just sayin'

So, whazzup? Well.....

I am feeling bad for the big kid but keeping it to myself. His emotions range from the lowest of lows to highs to saltiness and revenge. Live with that, why doncha?

I think that this is all similar to Kubler Ross's death and dying process.....denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Although, Dr. Kubler Ross's stages come in order, right? They don't move from one to the next back to the start then over to acceptance. yet, I have the honor of witnessing these phases at different times of the day, hour, or minute.

For example, he is fine with the college career being over, correct?

Hmmm, yes and no...no and yes....yes....no...no...yes....no......my head hurts....

He is angry with the strength coach who has been heard saying that he did not try enough to play through the pain. He is soft...and so on. Yep, his friends are reporting back to him. He hears it and hits the roof. I don't blame him.

Then, the coaches have not reached out to him to see how he did through the surgery. In fact, they do not know if he lived or not. Not one coach has checked in with him confirming what he has known...they don't like him, never liked him, and glad that he is gone. Plus, since he cannot do anything for them, they could care less. He is not useful, so toss him out.

Last night, the team played a rival who is worse than they are making the team look like a bunch of studs. According to Tonto, not one pitcher hit 88mph. While watching it on television, I could see that he was getting upset, so I turned it off. He continued to follow the progress through twitter but I could see the sadness and bitterness in him. What's a momma to do? Naturally, Tink and I ran to Dairy Queen to pick up an Oreo blizzard for him. This seemed to soften the blows a bit.

Today, he is back at physical therapy and still on the pain medication. He is going to try to wean himself off before heading back to school. I advised him to take one pill at 2 pm to see how it holds him. Then take one at night to sleep.

On our way to the city this morning, I wanted to perk him up, so I asked him to check into the Oregon pitching coach and make arrangements for the summer. He is also going to a clinic in New Jersey to help to realign his body since his mechanics are off because he was adjusting to the pain.

So, he has a great deal to look forward to and has to get over the angst caused by his last two years at school.

In my mind, he did get a raw deal, was tough to coach at times, with his potential ignored. As the sports psychologist said to him, 'they never took the time to get to know you.' And he is right. Sadly, he is right. By the way, the good doc contacted him twice in the last two days to see how he was doing.

It's the little things....

Ok, I have to find some Tylenol for this monster headache.

Peace!

All done

Good morning from the lobby of the surgi center. It was an early call as we rolled into the city at 6:30 am for surgery.

I dragged the treasure chest of pennies that I dug up in the backyard to pay for the surgeon and procedure. Luckily, the ground was soft from the rain and I had no problem retrieving my pesos and euros. Image result for digging for buried treasure gif

As he signed in, I was again approached to pay for my bill. Sheesh! The IRS could use these people to collect. The country would then be in great shape. Image result for digging for buried treasure gifBy the way, dad is going to forward the bill to the university. Let's see if they are going to pay up.....

As he waited for the surgery, we had a few laughs, then he was off. Before he left, he showed me some of the Czar's tweets in the past 24 hours, as he has no problem with social media or sending tweets to the quarterback of the football team yet he has never called, tweeted, or texted one of his players who was having surgery. Nice, eh?

After 30 minutes, MJ came to see me.....it was a significant tear....all fixed.....start lightly throwing in two weeks. Sweet!

Tomorrow, we have to come back for physical therapy then he can return to campus over the weekend.

I must say that this has been yet another fascinating experience and we have more content for the forthcoming book. Just got word that I can go back to see the big guy.

peace!
