What's up? Well, as I type this note, I am proctoring an exam. Looking, watching, observing for cheating....sad, huh? If anyone is cheating today, then they are master cheaters and I am out of their league.
Besides the exam, what else is new? Yesterday, my noon meeting was cancelled as I got a call from the big kid. The game was set for home at 3 pm and he was pitching. Yahoo! I cancelled my afternoon appointments and made the 3 hour trip on my own with the new tires (sweeet!). It was a sunny day until I started to climb the mountain, then it snowed....yah.....snow showers....I kept going anyway.....
Once I got there, I got together my cold weather game tool kit with the heavy LL Bean down coat, hat, ski mittens, hand warmers, boots, and blanket. I added the camera and granola bar to the bag and waddled into the ball park. For a home opener in 40 degree temperature, there were only 100 people there.....shocking? Nope. It was cold. Only penguins would have enjoyed that game. Once I sat in my seat, the snow started again and I questioned my sanity.
So, BP mom...how was the game? Does the word "oye" describe what I saw? Besides being cold, windy with snow showers, both teams struggled to keep pace. The coach decided to pitch each bullpen guy for 2 innings to prepare them for the weekend conference games. Buddy was number 4 on the mound. Naturally, he was called in with a man on first and second with no outs. It seems that he is always put in the high pressured situations with men on base and he has not been the guy that he was two years ago before the surgery. I have a theory that I will share in a bit. Anyway, he runs out to the mound and I could tell from my vantage that he did not have his swagger. That's right...I did not see confidence. I always see confidence, but not yesterday. And it showed. The batter hit the ball to the shortstop for a double play and he misplayed it. Error...instead of a double play and out of the inning, the bases were loaded. OYE! He got one more out then was pulled. It was ugly. Very ugly....
Where is the confidence? Where is the revenge? Where is the cockiness? I'll tell you....it is buried....and here is how I know.....
